A couple of days ago I heard someone say “I love on the rocks”. They were referring to the way they like to take their scotch, but it brought me back to being a kid. No I wasn’t drinking scotch on the rocks when I was a kid. My mother loved Neil Diamond. She played his music all the time at home. So be sheer osmosis, I know the words to almost everything song of his. Funny thing is, after all this time the lyrics stick with me. There are pieces of yesterday I cannot remember, but I can remember “Love on the rocks. Ain’t no big surprise. Just pour me a drink and I will tell you some lies.” From the Neil Diamond song, Love on the Rock’s. Go listen to it. You’re welcome.
Dead Man's Hand
The famous deadman’s hand, aces over eights, was the inspiration for this photograph. The bottle of the Bulleit Bourbon always seems like it in belongs in a saloon of an old west town. It should be sitting on the table as a few gunslingers spend the night and morning playing cards.
Scotch! Neat! Cheers!
The Glencairin is downright sexy. I wanted to highlight that aspect and really convey that. To do that, I felt that shooting in on black was they way to get that look. This photography was lit with one light, from behind, with a black gobo in between. The light actually wraps around the black gobo and lights each side.
