Dark & Stormy. What a great name for a drink. I do get the feeling that we’re coming out of the dark and stormy days of Covid-19, at least here in the US. Prayers (and vaccines) to India. I’m looking forward to some semblance of a normal summer, we will see what the new normal becomes. I can’t wait to gather with friends and family again, share stories, make memories and live again. Cheers!
The Whiskey Sour
Ladies and Gentlemen, The Whiskey Sour. Bourbon, lime juice, egg white, simple syrup all come together to be poured over ice, garnished with an orange and cherry. Yum yum yum! I experimented with some new photography methods for the background and spent a lot of time with the lighting to get this one perfect.
Whiskey Pour
It’s been cold here in the Northeast US the last few days. I wanted to add some hints to that in this whiskey pour photograph. A blue gel on the light left illuminating the glass and a bounce card on the right to give the glass a blue tint. The drop was pure serendipity and I decided to keep it in the photo.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Celebration Ale from Sierra Nevada. If you've never tried it, I highly highly recommend it. It's only available for a couple of months a year. I stock up when it is. This is my favorite beer of all time. This photograph is a hybrid of studio effects and Photoshop. The snow on the ground and specs on the bottle are fake snow. A powder you add water to and it expands to look like snow. The falling snow was generated in Photoshop. Cheers!

Planat Cognac
This is my first real look at Cognac. While a kind of brandy, cognac presents many different flavors, including spicy, fruity, sweet, and bitter. It’s flavor can also be greatly changed by the different temperatures at which it can be enjoyed. Now that I have created the photograph of this Planet Cognac, you can be sure I am going to spend a lot of time experiencing the flavors it has to offer.
Founders Unraveled IPA
Hop on it! When I saw the graphic of the hop on the can, I knew how I wanted to dress this photograph. It had to be surrounded by cone hops. Luckily it is the time of the year when they can be found and I happen to have some friends who own a local farm and do grow some hops. It was good timing all around and a good beer.
Four Roses Single Barrel
I’ve really been enjoying bourbon more and more lately. Nothing like wrapping up the day in front of the fireplace with one. Warms you inside while the fire warms your outside. I’ve also been enjoying photographing this bottle of Four Roses. A classic looking bottle with plenty of interest.
I’m not a big fan of the frozen margarita, but a well made shaken margarita, that hits the spot. Not a lot of ingredients and a little effort goes a long way with this cocktail. Shaken2 ounces tequila, 1 ounce Cointreau, 1 ounce lime juice, shake with ice. Strain and pour over ice in the glass with a salted rim and lime wheel. Delicious. Cheers!

Jumpin' Whiskey
Keeping good whiskey in the glass is very very hard. So hard, sometimes it jumps right out of the glass. Splash photography like this is fun, but messy. Right now part of my house smells like a distillery after creating this photograph. Worth every smell of it.
